Favicon sizing pain

I am having an issue with my favicon
I understand that the favicon size is 32x32 etc, but how come other websites favicon look so large in comparison to mine?

For example: mine being the left one

If you made the file in Photoshop or Illustrator, make sure you’ve followed these steps in exporting the favicon:

  1. File > Export
  2. Save for Web (Legacy)
  3. Select PNG-24 as file type
  4. Change the image size to 32x32

However, doesnt look super high quality
Is this because of the image itself?

Most likely. Was it made first as a vector (.svg)?
