Favicon not updating in Google search results

Hello Webflow Community Members,

I’m facing an issue where the favicon showing in Google search results is still the default Webflow favicon, not the custom favicon that I’ve updated in Webflow.

Details:

  • I have uploaded and set a new favicon in Project Settings → General
    -     The updated favicon appears correctly in the browser tab and on the live site
  • However, in Google search results, the favicon still shows the Webflow logo
    -     The site has been republished after the update
  • Google has already indexed the website

Could you please help identify why the updated favicon is not being reflected in Google search results and why the Webflow favicon is still appearing instead?

Also, let me know if there are any additional steps required from the Webflow side to fully replace the default favicon. We have resumitted the sitemap 2-3 times, still facing the same issue.

Google, however, caches favicons separately and updates them on its own schedule, which can take several weeks. Re-submitting the sitemap or republishing the site does not immediately refresh the favicon in search results.

Nothing is misconfigured on the website — Google will automatically replace the old Webflow favicon once its cache refreshes.
