We are planning to use webflow localization (Website translation and localization tools | Webflow) to create a bilingual site (English + French), and we want each locale to use a separate domain.
The primary language is English, we know how to connect a custom domain to the primary language site, not sure how we can connect a different domain to the secondary language.
Can this be done in the webflow account?
Or does it how to be done in the domain registrar? If we have to do it from the domain registrar, what setups do we have to do?
Hi Rose, that’s not natively supported in Webflow.
I’ve done some experiments and it is possible to “split” the sites into separate domains using two reverse proxies, one for each language… but it’s a fair bit of work to build.
If you want an “cheap” way to do this, I’d probably set it up so that the alt language domain is externally redirected. e.g.
Webflow does not allow for multiple domains to be managed in a single project, so each language will potentially require its own project if you want separate configurations and advanced customizations.
