I have added several images to a rich text field within a CMS. The problem is that each image is over 2-3 MB, totalling a little over 30 MB.
I want to compress them to .avif or .webp, but Webflow can’t find an option for this. The ‘Compress assets’ option in the CMS panel ‘More’ menu compresses only image assets that have a dedicated field in the CMS.
I was hoping for a way to compress assets within a rich text field. It is at all possible?
My most recent major site optimization was in Sept. 90% of the blog’s images were in rich text and Webflow did the AVIF conversion successfully.
The system can fail if the images are classified as “very large” because AVIF compression is resource-intensive, so you have to run it multiple times and give it some hours to run when your site is large.
That may have changed- I’d file a ticket with support if you’re unable to get it to work.
