Every time I attempt to render my composition with 80 jpeg images. (each one originally 960x540) I receive a ‘Render Failed’ message after a few seconds.

I also had the issue. Solution is:
Edit > Preferences > Scripting & Expressions… > and check on “Allow Scripts to Write Files and Access Network”
