Add solid color over a thumbnail in dynamic lists

Hey guys,

I have something I would love to have some help with. I was trying make a gallery section for my site and I used dynamic lists to do it. I want to have the text (Name of the picture album and date) over the image. I did do it by changing margins so its cool. Now, I’m not able to add a color overlay to the image to make the text easily readable. Any pointers on how I could acheive that?? I’ve attached the screen shot.
