Wrong preview image on Google search

Hi everyone!

I am just reaching out for some help with an SEO problem I am having. Whenever someone searches for the name of my website, the preview image shows a random logo on my website. You can see it here:

When I share my website, the proper preview image shows because of my Open Graph image. However, on search, it pulls a different image (despite me having the search image set to the same open graph image).

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

@jacobwoodhouse - google is displaying your favicon, not your open graph image. See here: Define Website Favicon for Search Results | Google Search Central  |  Documentation  |  Google for Developers

Hi Sam,

Sorry, I completely missed your comment. I appreciate you answering my question!

But to clarify, isn’t the little logo beside the displayed URL in my screenshot example the favicon? Not the grey and black β€œnd13” I am trying to change.

Thanks a bunch.

Was this question ever answered? I am having the same problem:

  • Open graph is set
  • Sire search settings are set to the same as Open graph
  • Google is pulling one of the images from my homescreen

Hey @Sash_Margrie_Hunt, I checked your website and it is displaying the open graph image set on the site settings, you can take a look for yourself OpenGraph - Preview Social Media Share and Generate Metatags - OpenGraph
Are you seeing something else on your end?
