Webfont needing to use is bigger than 2 MB

Hi,

The webfont that I need to use is bigger than 2 MB…it’s 3 MB.

As such, I am currently unable to upload due to the 2 MB limit.

This is the webfont Beloved Font | Webfont & Desktop | MyFonts

Help would be greatly appreciated.

Best,

Nathan

Hi @nathanphilsteele I’ve never seen a font file that large before, but understand that font files will only get larger especially with color fonts coming soon to the web, pending browser support. I’m looking into this right now and will let you know as soon as I have more information!

Hi @Waldo,

I appreciate the help.

I went ahead and shared the fonts with you via google drive for you to take a look at.

Best,

Nathan

Hi @nathanphilsteele thanks for sending that over!

The issue is stemming from trying to upload the TTF font filetype which is 3mb in size (we’re discussing font file sizes and an update here potentially but I don’t have a firm answer on this which I can provide at this time).

Typically you want to keep your font file sizes lower to keep site load times down.

Right now the EOT, WOFF and WOFF2 font file types should have you covered though browser support wise and those are each well under 2mb in file size:
Can I use... Support tables for HTML5, CSS3, etc (best browser modern support IE9+)
Can I use... Support tables for HTML5, CSS3, etc (second best browser support)
Can I use... Support tables for HTML5, CSS3, etc (IE6+)

I’ll get back to you as soon as I have more information.

Hi @Waldo,

Last night, I tried all the other fonts after initially failing at the ttf. They would upload, but the webflow as not representing the correct font.

I just tried the woff again, figuring what the heck. Sure enough…it worked this time.

Not sure what you did to make it work this time, but thank you!!

P.S. thank for the lesson…I needed to know that regardless

Thank you @Waldo

Nathan

Speaking of font issues, the font “Great Vibes” in the WF interface has an issue with the lower case “L”.
