Tracking HTML5 Audio plays with Google Analytics?

Hello!

Here’s my preview link: https://preview.webflow.com/preview/fcchudson?preview=b3a7068dd2b25b2da029e2a184efb774

The client is wondering if there’s a way to track how many times a sermon has been played (here’s an example: https://www.fcchudson.com/sermons/gospel-and-faith) in Google Analytics. I attempted to use Google Tag Manager, but discovered it doesn’t track events/triggers on the html5 audio player, likely because it’s embedded third-party content.

In light of that, I’ve been exploring using analytics.js to track clicks on the audio player, but I’m not quite sure what I’m doing as this is new territory for me. I’d love any insights or help executing this task.

Thanks!
Ryan

I think you have to use event tracking: Event Measurement  |  Analytics for Web (analytics.js)  |  Google Developers
