Slider doesn't play automatically. Needs a click to start. Why?

The slider on the front page doesn’t play automatically.
You have to click on the page somewhere for it to start. Or refresh the page.

This happens when I share the read only link. And occasionally when I go into preview mode.

I have no idea why. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The Slider element in Webflow supports various navigation methods including arrows, dots, and keyboard controls. For autoplay functionality, you can enable this in the Slider settings panel:

  1. Select your Slider element
  2. In the Settings panel, locate the Slider Settings
  3. Enable the Autoplay toggle
  4. Adjust the timing (in milliseconds) for how long each slide appears
  5. Optional: Enable “Pause on Hover” if you want the autoplay to pause when users hover over the slider

If your autoplay isn’t working in preview mode or read-only links, try checking that all slides are properly configured and that there are no conflicts with other interactive elements on the page. Sometimes, clearing your browser cache or testing in a different browser can also resolve preview-related issues.

Thanks for replying.

The autoplay function was enabled. Using arrows as well.
Tried on Safari, Chrome, and Edge. Safari: Mac/Windows, Chrome: Mac/Windows. Edge: windows. No autoplay function.
Cleared the cache on all three browsers. No autoplay function.

There are no other interactive elements on the page other than links. Nor have I added any scripts.
The autoplay functions works when the page is refreshed, but not before.
