"Popup" Modal help please

Need some help understand how to give the effect of a “popup” modal when someone clicks a CTA button.

I’d like it to appear that the modal popups up when clicking - I figure this is done by giving the modal a Z-index that is higher and then using some sort of interaction, but I can’t quite figure out to get the whole thing working. Anyone have tips?

Pretty much you create a DIV on the form.
Change zindex and visibility.
You display the modal with a click interaction.
