I am struggling to get this Text Distort effect to work properly in Safari.

The hover effect itself works as expected in ALL tested browsers.
The problem is that in Safari, the link isnt always clickable.
Most times you have to click rapidly a few times for the browser to recognise that it was a link and navigate you to the target. This is only an issue in Safari. Chrome and Firefox both navigate to the link on first click everytime.
What about this javascript could be causing the issue?
I’m completely stumped at the moment.
