I’m looking to play an animation every time a user opens a modal. However, it is only playing on the first click and reverts to just a hide/show operation after the first click. I’m having a hard time understanding what I did wrong.

It’s at the top right (in the nav) with a “?”
My guess is modal close… You only do a hide there. You need to reset the other values to.
You could to a copy of your start animation and remove all except what you are doing for init state
