Live site is extremely laggy on Safari

Hi, I’m in the process of optimizing my site for all browsers and noticed that while my site is relatively smooth and problem free on chrome, it’s extremely clunky on laptop/desktop safari:

Loom | Free Screen & Video Recording Software | Loom - here’s a recording. compared to even safari on mobile, it’s far laggier.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Some things I’ve attempted were:

  • removing spline interactions
  • removing gradients

and while removing each of those elements did improve the usability on Safari to a minor effect, scrolling on the site still fell very laggy.

Realized that the custom DOM element was causing 70% of the lag and then remaining lagginess was solved by removing some custom gradients. unfortunate that Safari processes these things differently, hoping for a fix in the future!
