iPhone and iPad View Height Issues

I am so close to finishing my first website and I just noticed that the view height on my iPhone and iPad is not adjusting properly seemingly due to the top and bottom bars. I did research and I found the following solution. However, it is not working for me. I pasted the below in my custom code and nothing changed. Any ideas on how to fix this solution or can you provide a different solution?
