Fixed sidebar issues

Hello all!

I have a fixed sidebar and Div block with scrolling content sitting side by side within a parent DIV. I’d like the side bar to take up say 30% and the content 70%, and for them to remain with those proportions responsively when scaling. I’m noticing though that when I make the side bar fixed, the content DIV overlaps it.

How do I fix this? Any help is greatly appreciated!
