Event ticket: Purchase, tracking and PDF

Hi there,

I’m looking into setting up an e-commerce site using webflow to sell event tickets.

The goal is to pay with PayPal, which should be easy using the Paypal button, but not only send a confirmation email but also a printable and/or screen PDF. The PDF should include the name of the person purchasing the ticket and MAYBE a barcode to scan the ticket.

What integration would you recommend and how do I set it up?

I would also need to track the purchase of course. I imagine some sort of database that keeps track and my client has access to it and can print it out.

I looked into foxy.io but it doesn’t seem to offer a PDF ticket service.
Is there anything out there that combines a database, PDF ticket and the purchase itself?

There are so many apps out there and I’m getting a little overwhelmed which one would be best to use. The easier the better :wink:

I would use Integromat or Zapier for this sort of scenario. However I am not aware of how extensive PayPal’s triggers and actions are. So ideally you would send new bookings to create a new google doc or similar and send the shareable link by email and also add the order to airtable, a sheet or similar.

Can you achieve ticket quantity management with a paypal button ?

We already chatted via email, but what you’re after is possible with Foxy + Webflow + Zapier. While Foxy doesn’t generate a custom PDF (I’m not aware of any ecommerce platform that does this natively) after an order is placed through Foxy, you can use our Zapier integration to connect to a service like PDFMonkey (there are others as well) to dynamically generate a PDF and email it to the customer.

In addition, we can show you how to dynamically generate an email that includes a QR code that can be scanned at the event that links to the customer’s web receipt. Lots of possibilities. Just depends on your needs.

The ecommerce functionality on Webflow isn’t currently geared towards ticketing. You can do it, but it doesn’t let you do simple ticketing things like limiting the quantity of tickets a user can purchase.

I would recommend embedding something like TicketTailor . There’s a good tutorial on how to embed TicketTailor into your existing Webflow site .

I’ve also used TicketSpice, but have found that their styling and embed functionality aren’t quite up to the style desires that Webflow users have come to expect.

I’m a big Webflow fan and decided to set this up myself out of curiosity. I managed to make it work, but it was a bit more complex than expected. I used Zapier and a PDF generator, and even created a simple ticket scanner.

In the end, I realized that dedicated ticket platforms offer significant value. While this might change in the future, they’re definitely worth it for now.

Personally, I’m pleased with this outcome. I work at WeTicket, where we provide event organizers with all the tools they need to sell tickets on Webflow for €0,18 per ticket.
