I am using an elfsight form to handle job applications on my website. I need to know which job the person is applying to (this bit is easy because the URL is passed) but also the person who posted the job.
I have this data available in webflow on the page and could insert it into a webflow form as a hidden value. Is anyone passing data like this to elfsight forms?
Hi DrNinjamonkey,
Unfortunately, there’s no such functionality in the default settings of the widget. However, you can contact our Support Team and they will help you to customize the widget exactly for your use-case.
Also, there is also such a simple option, how to indicate the name of the work in a hidden field (if a unique form is created for each vacancy). To do it:
Go to the Elfsight configurator and choose the Form Tab;
In the Form Elements section, add the Hidden element;
Insert the required value for the element;
Ready! Now you’ll get submissions with the value of the specified hidden field.
We hope, it helped a bit with your use-case. Anyway, if you any questions, contact us - we’ll be happy to assist you!
Hi!
Our apologies for the long wait and thank you for the question!
There’s a way to pass the value into the form. Our Support Team will be delighted to help you with that, just contact them here - support@elfsight.com and they modify all the settings exactly for your use-case.
Looking forward to hearing from you!
Best regards,
Elfsight Team
The answers I got from support wern’t very helpful to be honest. This code is working for now:
The issue seems to be that the widget takes a few seconds to load in. If you can suggest some more robust code to allow us to pass values into the form I am sure the community would appreciate it.
Im not using elfsight, as much as i like it. Its not viable. Not even zapier is. It’s actually really frustrating because everything has limits. Lets say you have 500 jobs, maybe each of the jobs get 50 applicants apply. Or each job gets a few thousand fews. Thats going to eat away at tasks or views really quickly. Even on higher tier plans.
I just dont want to keep forking out for third party plugins as good as they may be, for a jobboard they are not well suited. Well, in the early stages i expect to make a loss, so its not viable at this point. Not for somthing simple like submitting a form.
Im totally stuck to be honest. There has to be a work around that is free. Maybe i could try and build a form with custom code? My javascript knowledge is pretty basic though. Im determined to find a free resolve to this though.
@Made_Easy did you get any luck with this? I’m trying something similar, where I need to validate pass the order-id for a digital good into a form, making sure payment and form submission are tied together.
I’m sorry, I stopped using webflow for a while. , so I’m not sure. I would reach out to elfsight. The customer service is great and I think they can help with workarounds.
We’re really glad to hear it. You can even contact us here or ask any question in the thread. We’ll definetely find a workaround for you. Thanks for the trust!
