Ecommerce Add-To-Cart button limitations

I have been trying to avoid using webflow ecommerce until I realized their other restrictions (limit of 5 reference fields/30 regular fields and a limit of 100 static pages) would prevent me from doing what I want with Shopify buy buttons.

After signing up for Webflow ecommerce I realized it has even more limitations. I have a product page with multiple versions of that product i need to list along with related items. I was able to set up the option select just fine but the related products section is nearly impossible to setup correctly. You can’t just drag in an “add to cart” button for any product onto any other products page. Sure you can create a collection list and add the cart button in there and filter the products you want to show (in a very clunky way i might add) but you cant customize the filter per product page.

Example: I am on a product page for shoes and i want to add shoe strings to the related products area, I add a collection list and “add to cart” buttons where i want it to be displayed. I then filter out all the other products except shoelaces. This is clunky but works. However when i got to the next product page which is necklaces, the collection list still shows the shoelaces and I can’t change the filter because it will change it for ALL the other product pages.

I can not possibly understand why we can’t just add a “add to cart” button ANYWHERE and assign a specific product to that button. This whole system needs to be thrown in the garbage. Webflow advertise flexibility and customization but once you get into CMS and ecommerce it’s the exact opposite.

I sold my boss on using Webflow because we could do pretty much anything we want with it but i was completely wrong and now we are 10 months and thousands of dollars into this project with no way to finish it. I can not recommend it to anybody that wants to make anything more than a basic website. Who cares about custom animations when i can’t even do simple things like this? Please remove these arbitrary limitations so people can actually make the websites they want.

Hi Jordan,

I may be able to help, I have created an integration that uses the Shopify buy button within the webflow cms and all you need is the product id.

Here are a few of the sites we have worked on recently
