Defective Purchased Template

Hi, I hope this the appropriate forum for my question, nothing quite seems to fit. Please redirect me if needed.

I just purchased my first template to try to save a bunch of work. After using it I quickly found that the LightBoxes were “permanently” tied to images from the template; i.e. the thumbnails at the bottom of the slider “always” had extra images from the original template.

The template designer told me to replace the LightBoxes to fix it, but then all of the animation that came along with the template was lost making this a mostly useless template.

Do I have any recourse here? I have asked for a fixed template, but I have not received any response yet.
