Is there a way to change manually the order of CMS items which presented as a gallery?

What you can do is add a number field in your collection structure and number your items. Then sort your collection list by that number field.

Also, while it’s not ideal, you can use old-school line numbering techniques, like 10, 20, 30… This way you can insert items in-between later, without having to manually re-number every item in your list. Decimals can work too.

my collection list automatically resets itself to alphabetical order even after I add order number then sort it by number. What should I do?

If you’re talking about the CMS panel in the designer, that sorting is not relevant to what you see on your page. Just re-sort it whenever you need to.

On the page, the sorting is controlled by the collection list sorting order and that should remain fixed to whatever you set it to.
