Can't change the opacity of a variable colour

Hi there,

Since the last major update, I’ve been struggling to figure out how to change the opacity of a selected variable colour. The only way I found to adjust the opacity is by changing the variable colour setting, which then affects all elements using the same colour. However, I want to change the opacity for a specific element using a variable colour.

I also don’t know anymore how to change the colour of an element when a variable colour is selected. It only gives me options to select another variable colour. It is very frustrating.

Previously, it was quite straightforward and easy to do, but now I’m unsure of how to achieve it. If anyone could provide guidance on how to make this adjustment, I’d greatly appreciate it.

Thank you!

Regards,
Joao

Hi! Have you found a way to resolve this?

the video “how to” deleted by Stan

You have to use the same hex# to create a new swatch and then adjust the opacity on that specific version. Very annoying.

That is correct There is not any way to update WF color variable. But there is a way only with custom code , means in :root create variable and use color custom field. I have posted video but because there was not any response I have deleted it. :man_shrugging:

I’ve faced this too. Try using custom CSS overrides for specific elements’ opacity without altering the variable color settings.

Hi! Sorry I didn’t respond sooner, just saw the message. Could you please repost the video? It would be super useful.

Thanks!

hi @ioanaionescu I have create a new video hope that will help to understand how to what and why.

some links. You do not need to read that but designers should. be at least aware of these new “color spaces”
