I was able to reproduce the issue and have filed a report for it.
The team is investigating the issue–we hope to have it resolved soon. As soon as I have more information I will post back here.

Its the same with the “Tab widget” … there is no “active” or “open” class on that item. Already reported that issue

We have just pushed a fix for this issue. You should now be able to see the “open” pseudo class when editing the open menu button.
