Can't align nav bar symbols or element to top of hero image

Can someone please tell me how I can align my nav bar symbol I created to the top of the page on my hero image? Should I not be using a symbol for a nav bar?

Thanks again! I can get it to the top now but I want the nav bar to be transparent (minus the dark background) so that the hero image shows through?
