Background video on mobile is totally possible. We have got it working at MasterClass. Would it be possible for you guys to update your component so that it works on mobile devices?

Just popped in here to +1 this request. Was surprised to see it not working on mobile.
This should help 
You can add an attribute to the video element called “playsinline” as long as the video is muted it should work on IOS. Not sure about the others.
Now keep in mind I have only done this on exported code so keep that in mind.
