Background image STICKS in mobile modes

In preview mode on my windows 11 and Macbook the site looks fine in all modes. That is, the BG image stays static as the rest of the contents float over top whilst scrolling.

It started acting weird a few days ago, not sure why I never added any code.

The BG is a JPG and set to FIXED, and there’s no size restrictions. I’ve tried everything from restoring to a backup from last week, testing using Edge, Chrome, and Safari to no avail.

I am beginning to think there’s a glitch or a break somewhere in the code as I can’t think of why else it would be behaving this way.

Hopefully someone here can shed some light.

Keep in mind that some mobile browsers (iOS Safari) do not support fixed image backgrounds.

Lots of people state this answer/response but I don’t think this is true.

I’ve seen multiple sites (like CNBC.com and others) where static ad images are “fixed backgrounds” as you scroll through the website on mobile (iPhones and iPads).

If they’re “not supported”, it wouldn’t be working across the board, right?

So there must be some code they’re assigning/plugging in to make the background fixed in mobile.
