Password protect pages and SEO ranking (failed workaround for password protecting staging?)

Hello,

We’re currently on the CMS plan and since we can’t password protect the staging site, I thought I had just found a workaround by creating a Password protected folder with all of those pages that are for internal access such as work in progress pages, and collection page templates for internal use such as email signatures.

I have a couple of issues with this approach:

  • I’m now worried that password protecting an entire folder (currently called /internal/ ) might affect overall SEO
  • I can’t remove Template pages that are password protected from the automatically created sitemap (specifically those created for Email Signatures creation)

Many thanks,
Alessandra

Hi @_ale_gobubble - curious if you ever figured this one out? I’m realizing my password protected pages are showing up in my sitemap. This feels like a flaw, since there would be no reason to have a password protected page in the sitemap, and it causes Google to report errors on the search console.
