Pages that share the link for the page your viewing have a special class added (“Current” - shown in green) that allows you to change the appearance of the active link. Make sure you modify the look of that link style as well.

I’m not seeing the issue you’ve mentioned in your initial post. Is there another page I should be looking at instead of the homepage?
