I have a custom domain www.kaisinli.com. I want to set up a subdomain, portfolio.kaisinli.com. I connected it manually to my DNS registrar. But every time I go to portfolio.kaisinli.com, it automatically redirects back to kaisinli.com.
I’ve realized it’s because nothing has been published there yet. But my subdomain isn’t on the publish menu. Why is this the case?
Here are my settings:
www.kaisinli.com is the default domain which means that everything else will redirect to it. That’s typically what you’d want, and it’s the most “stable” config in Webflow hosted sites - but it won’t work if you’re trying to make two different domains work and appear separately in the URL.
I think you might be confused though, you can’t have different domains show different content in your Webflow site. You can have multiple domains but they’ll all show exactly the same website.
Ah okay thank you, does that mean I can’t make a subdomain in webflow as long as I have a default?
It will work fine, but it will just redirect to your default domain.
