IDEA: Collections not visible in CMS

It would be awesome that there is an “option” in a collection to say: Not visible in the CMS!

Sometimes i use a reference or multireference collections for TAGS wich does never chance…
this collectionn “in the CMS” makes it for the CMS user more difficult to use…

Koen

Hi Koen! Are you wanting to hide the collection from the pages panel and the Editor (what clients use)?

Hi Sergie! Yes thats what i want!
Example: For a company i use a reference for tags. Like: Reference: newstype
Tags: Sport, Business, Local

I don’t want that the customer can add or chance this,
because i use it in the filter option.

I use references for: Time, Month, and lots of other tags
some would be better for the “option” i know. But we can’t filter in that yet…

I have had the need for this on many occasions too! Thanks for bringing it up.

@thesergie Absolutely – we should be able to hide stuff from editors and only show then what’s relevant. Best would be to disable everything (page elements, collections, etc) by default from the CMS and get the developer to then enable what’s supposed to be editable by the editor/s.

At the moment we hide collections pages from the Editor so that clients won’t need to open a blank page, but I can totally see the need to completely hide a collection from clients in the Editor.

Best would be to disable everything (page elements, collections, etc) by default from the CMS and get the developer to then enable what’s supposed to be editable by the editor/s.

I think it can be a checkbox in the collection settings so that the designer decided when they’re creating a new collection or editing a collection. I also think that it should be enabled by default as most collections will need to be editable.

It would be like an early implementation of user permissions.
