How to create a link from my homepage to a cms page

Hello everyone. I’m trying to link a ‘Link block’ to a CMS page and I can’t figure how do do it. It must be really simple and therefor, it’s driving me crazy. Thanks for your answer. Sorry for asking.

Are you attempting to link to a specific post? If so, the link has to be that specific post’s url since the pages are created dynamically.

If you’re trying to link to the page dynamically, you’ll need to use a collection list on your homepage. Add a link block to the list. Connect the link block to the collection.

Hey, thanks for you answer, that’s really kind :)

1 — I tried this method earlier and somehow, the link always open in a new tab (even if I don’t check “open in a new tab”) °_____° ?!? Also, if I one point I start to use my own domain, I would need to re-enter all the new URL. Everything seemed a bit off and I thought maybe I’m doing it wrong.

2 — This one is new and gave it a try but I end up with 4 buttons on top of each others °_____° ?!?

I really don’t understand because Webflow is SO smart and the tutorials are SO nicely done that I can’t believe I have to play tricks to make links !!! Or is it best to make static pages ? Does CMS have it’s limits ? … Can’t be …

UPDATE: the first method works. What confused me is that it didn’t work on the ‘toggle preview’ but it works on the published website  I will use this for now because this webpage is small but there must be another way of doing it … isn’t it ???

Using collections makes it a little more complex. Once you figure out the system it will become easier and make sense. I highly recommend going through this lesson

To maximize the dynamic content, the four posts you’re showing on the homepage should also be populated from the database rather than being static. Right now you are doing everything manually which defeats the purpose of having the CMS.

The reason you saw the four buttons is because the list is creating a button for each of your posts. In the same way, you can have each of those posts displayed dynamically. You design it once, and the list repeats the design but each item in the list is unique because it is being populated by the dataset. See attached screen grab.

I was able to show one button (one post’s link) because I limited the list’s display to one item.

I had the feeling it could be done this way so I’m really grateful that you took the time to build it and show me how it could be articulated. I don’t think I will apply it for this project though. It is a small website and if my friend likes it, it will probably end up being a ‘basic plan’ website with static pages.

CMS is really powerful, but I’m starting so I’ll go little by little with this feature. There are already SOOOOOOO much things to learn. It’s quite overwhelming … but in a good way.

Thanks again for taking the time !
