Creating responsive gallery with varying heights. Grids or Columns?

Hi Guys,

I have attached a screen shop of my XD Mockup of what I am trying to achieve. I would like to create a gallery on my homepage, please take a look at the attached image.

I am unsure if I should create this using a grid, or columns. This issue I am having is that the images should all be the same width, but they are varying lengths as shown.

I am also unsure about how to size my images before I bring them in, so they view as they do in the grid.

Lastly, its important that this layout will be responsive.
