Change an image on hover?

Hello,

I’m trying to change the color of an image on hover, and to do this I have two variations of exactly the same image (a facebook icon, see image Screen Shot 2017 05 28 at 17 07 19 — ImgBB).

Essentially, I want it to go gold on the hover. I have tried a few different approaches, but haven’t had any luck with getting it to work.

Has anyone got any ideas ?

Thanks.

You can use text icons with something like http://icomoon.io/ (upload font files to your project, select the font and copy/paste the referenced ) and toggle the text colour on hover, OR use a background image (both images stacked) that changes position when hovered. I like the first option since you can control transitions so it’s not so abrupt, OR this Social Media Icons Hover Effect

I went for option two and resolved it based on the thread you linked. Thanks for the help.
