Why cant <embed> objects be placed into "link blocks" anymore?

Hi there,

recently found out, that you cant place embed-objects anymore within link-blocks. Why is that?
I used to place my SVG embed code for icons a.s.o with a link-block, thats no longer possible?

Any reason for that?
