Where to store mp4s and get a URL that ends on xxxxx.mp4

I’m using a custom code to embed mp4 videos that needs the URLs to end in the video file format, like “https://streamable.com/l/000000/mp4-high.mp4

I’m currently using streamable to upload my MP4s and get these URLs, but it’s a paid service. I tried using Drive and Dropbox but the URLs aren’t direct mp4 URLs.

Is there a free service for that?

Hello @lucaszaiden,
You can use dropbox for “free” if you stay within its bandwidth limit. So if you upload an mp4 file to Dropbox and click on Copy Link that should give you a long url that starts with ww.dropbox.com/.......mp4?dl=0 something like that, but if you want to use it with html code you have to change the www.dropbox.com to dl.dropboxusercontent.com/(the rest is the same as the original link) I hope this helps!

“Free” often means you’re the product, so the tradeoff is going to be file size limits, file number limits, bandwidth limits, ads, spam, etc.

Bunny.net and Bunnystream have great pricing and support.

Vidzflow has a limited free plan.

I like using Cloudflare R2’s object storage a lot, but it requires a bit of technical knowledge and DNS config.

@Pablo_Cortes I tried Dropbox but the issue with that ULR is everything that comes after “.mp4”, which is the same on Google Drive, etc. I guess it’s a URL with some safety features, which is great but unfortunately for the purpose I need, it doesn’t work :frowning:

Just found out a very simple way: create a new page, add all your videos there and publish. Then go to the live page, inspect, and you’ll have the mp4 and webm urls to use on your other page.

You can but your MP4’s are size limited and re-encoded, so you won’t get your original quality. They’re designed specifically for low-resolution background use.

Also, if you’re using a number of videos, especially on your homepage, you’ll chew through bandwidth.

I’d encourage you to familiarize yourself with easy external hosting options so you can be prepared.
