The red part? What red part?

When your padding an element, say a div and you go past 0 into -1 and more, it starts to show red in the area that is that is being padded? what does this mean ?

Oh the red stripes?

It indicates negative values for the magins. Paddings can’t be negative.

Web design once used negative margins quite regularly to fix various needs. From hiding elements to control overlaps. mainly for layout purposes.

I don’t really know if it’s a bad thing, but Webflow draws them in red.

Since CSS3 and with the modern tools we have today, HTML5, Flexbox etc, I haven’t used negative margins for web design. There’s always a way around I think.
