About Tekal

Tekal is an early stage MIT spinoff working on transformative technology pioneered at CSAIL. At Tekal, we use AI to reverse-engineer memory and attention and predict the cognitive impact of visual content: we’ve developed machine learning models that can predict if an image or video will capture the attention of and be remembered by the average viewer. We’re using these developments to create a platform where marketers and creatives can maximize the impact of their assets before publication. Through cutting-edge research in deep learning and a unique data collection tool, we are on the path to become the mainstream platform for creative optimization.

We are being accelerated by MIT’s Sandbox program and we were incubated in Harvard’s Innovation Labs. Our team includes MIT and Harvard data scientists with research and engineering experience in organizations like Google, Facebook and Nvidia. Our investors and advisors include serial entrepreneurs and pioneers in the adtech space, as well as top-level MIT faculty in computer vision and cognitive science.

We have a committed team that works in a fully remote fashion, and a culture that heavily prioritizes excellence, ownership, learning and agility. Our deep learning research is growing fast and we are constantly contributing to the fields of memory and attention. Most of our current goals focus on deep learning research, product development and iterative deployment.
