… I’m just blanking on why this is happening.
(keep in mind I’m a designer first with a little knowledge of how code works)

Why does the “Hero Slider Section” go all the way to the top of the page, behind the “nav section” instead of sitting under the “nav section”

Your nav section has position: fixed which causes it to overlay the slider. If you wish to have your nav fixed, but see the top of the slider, add some padding to the top of the slider section.
