Subdomain is disabled, but it is still appearing on Google

Hi

I’m facing an issue, as mentioned in the title. The subdomain has been disabled for the last few months, but it still appears in Google search results. I’ve checked multiple devices, cleaning browser cache, Incognito mode and even using VPN, yet the sub-domain keeps appearing.

I’m really confused about why this is happening. Could you please advise how I can remove the subdomain from Google’s index? Additionally, this site does not currently have Google Search Console set up.

Here is the Keyword: Norsk Båtformidling and URL: https://norsk-batformidling.webflow.io

Thank you for your guidance.

Hi there,

Even after disabling indexing, your site’s content may remain visible in search results if it was previously published or linked from other websites. Here’s how to address this:

First, ensure indexing is properly disabled in your Webflow project by going to Site settings > SEO > Indexing section and turning off Staging indexing. Note that this feature requires a Site plan or paid Workspace.

To remove existing search results for your webflow.io subdomain, you can use Google’s removals tool: Removals and SafeSearch reports Tool - Search Console Help

Hopefully this helps! If you still need assistance, please reply here so somebody from the community can help.

Hi Sam,

It’s because Google’s bot is blocked by robots.txt, so it really never updates the index.

Here are the techniques I use-

Thank you so much, Method #1 (Google Search Console) worked very quickly.
