Is it possible to add a filter or sort option for the projects page without any external jQuery plugin (Isotope or MixitUp) or custom code?

Collection lists support filters and sort orders. These are applied on publish. Dynamic sorting (on page) would require custom code.

off course you need custom code to implement sorting and filtering options. But there are some third party services like MixItUp which makes the process ultimately easy. Peace :v:

another option that is also free and very simple to setup and works well is JQuery Hide/Seek
