Problem with tutorial -2021 DESIGN PORTFOLIO COURSE

I am doing the 2021 DESIGN PORTFOLIO COURSE Project pages: main page 27:38. At 8:04 the second topic Project Details. The section does not go under the previous section as shown in the tutorial. It actually is appearing to be pushed into the project image used. I tried to continue using the container but it seems to also be positioned incorrectly. Any ideas why this would happen?

Hey aha,

Could you please include a read-only link to your Webflow site? Once I have access to that link, I should be able to help you out.

Thank you!

Hi Grimur!
Thanks so much for taking a look at this and trying to help.
Andrew

It seems like resetting the height on the Section class helps. Try that out and see if that helps.

How do I reset the height? Do I just change it from the 400 pixels to say 100px and back to 400px? Or is there another way to do it?
Sorry for my lack of understanding here.

No worries. That’s my bad not explaining it better. Try holding down Option + click on the “Height” title itself. You can also click “Height” once and press reset.

That seemed to work. It is now auto so would I add the class again of Section? And I am confused as to why this happened. I religiously followed the tutorial and had this happen three times before I tried to get help.
What am I doing wrong here? Besides not drinking enough coffee?

More coffee is always a good idea  You can keep the Section class as is, when you removed that “Height” setting, you didn’t remove the class itself. So at that point in the video, the Section class should just have 60px top and bottom padding, like you had already done :+1:

I was able to get my original issue fixed and now in a later part of the same tutorial a similar issue pooped up again but there seems no numbers to reset to auto like last time.
HELP!!

It seems like there was a 400px height on the Image grid. If you reset that height property, the problem should be solved.
Look at this link here:

Hi Grimmur,

That seems to have solved it. Can I ask you why the first time the section would have a 400px height issue when I was just dragging and dropping it and now the image grid also had the same issue. I was looking at the section areas to see if it was the same issue as last time but never spotted the image grid issue.

Is it supposed to be auto width and height, to begin with?

And another weird thing was my text is dark grey by default and not white. When I have done tutorials before the text was always white by default.

Thanks so much for spotting this issue and getting me on the road to finishing the tutorial.

Andrew

Of course. I’m glad it helped.

To be honest, I’m not entirely sure why that is. Can you point out to me(give me a timestamp) where in the video we set a 400px height to the Section class? I can’t seem to find it and I don’t think we should actually do that… If it’s something that is happening automatically when you drag in a Section, then that could be a bug.

It looks like you have the text color on the Body(All Pages) set to #333. If you change that, then it will affect your default text.

You got it. And thanks for sharing the read only link, your project is starting to look real good

Honestly, I don’t think I followed your video for using the 400px…I will go through it again but pretty sure it was something just popping up. And also- This issue happened when I put Section in and it showed an issue, I kept adding the container and then the grid and then sent my file.

Interesting. If it happens again and you are able to to screen record that behavior. Please share with us.

Thank you! And good luck with the rest of the build

Thanks, Grimur!

I just finished that section thanks to your help. I was getting super frustrated and I can’t tell you how excited I am to get it working.

Have a great night and the rest of the week. If I spot that issue I will let you know.
