Noob tries to use a template

Hi,

i’m new to webflow and I found the kind of template i want for my site,

problem is i cant change certain things from the base template that i want to and I also want to download the website with the export code option to self host but some parts of the site cease to exist on the download parts.

How do I simplify the process of changing the template to my own theme?

In Webflow, templates are just a clone of a site design, so you can change absolutely anything you want. You just have to learn how to use Webflow, and determine how the template designer built each section, to modify it how you want.

Export code, however, doesn’t export anything CMS related, which means collection pages and collection lists do not exist at all in the exported code.

You’ll need to first convert those to static pages and non-collection list content, before you can export.

Hi thank you for your response,

for the CMS, how do I convert them to static pages?

Hey @breadflows ,

You can copy the elements from the collection template page and paste it to a static page after unbinding the elements content from the respective CMS. Here’s a quick video on how to do the same.

Hope this helps.

Frankly it’s a total pain in the butt. Finsweet has a nice CMS Unbind tool but it’s currently offline for retooling.

The best approach depends on the page itself. You can sometime copy-paste to another project and copy-paste back, but you’ll likely have some duplicate class problems and need to perform it in multiple steps to get your collection list internals.

A bunch of notes here.
