Modals - how do you design when its on top of everything?

I have had a look at the tutorials on modal popups, and they all seem to have it on top of everything else in designer view. How can you possibly design anything when its on top? Surely you don’t have to turn it on and off every time you publish?

Oh, figured this out… I can just hide it in designer, and have the interaction turn it on. : )
