Migrating a page with CMS without loosing SEO ranking

Hi there

I’m working on a new website for my company in another webflow project. (Our old one is also done in webflow.) We have many Blog Posts that perform very well and rank high in Google. I don’t want to loose any progress so I want to ask for best practices when migrating the CMS between the projects.

So the first question is: How to migrate without loosing my SEO ranking on those posts?

When I started the old project i called the “blog categories” “blog categories” - but it’s a german site. What a mistake :eyes: It’s in every blog posts URL (…/blog-categories/XYZ). Should i leave it or can i change that and redirect to the new URLs?

I noticed, that the item IDs and the dates can’t be migrated. Instead there will be new ones. How can I the sort my blog posts newest to oldest, when that info gets lost?

Thankful for any other tips and best practices, when it comes to migrating content to another project. Thank you very much

Google provides guidance in search central about migrating sites and I recommend you follow that closely.

Add an additional date field, import the pub date into it, then order by that.

You can change it.

Change the slug on the collection to what you want.
Add your site redirects using wildcards
Republish

All old links will continue to work by redirect, and Google will eventually update to point directly to your new paths.
