Issue with Changing Color Of Active & Pressed Link

I’m having an issue changing the color of my custom “active”/“focused” and “pressed” links as well as my in-page linking resolving correctly in the same way. This is only an issue with the pages in the left sidebar navigation. I would like it to be grey as it is in the main navigation. Thanks for reading in advance, really grateful for the community.

Can you explain what is the expected behaviour please?

The links are highlighting as black when active. They should be grey just as the top navigation is.
