IE8 and Windows XP

I’ve read IE8 doesn’t understand media queries…but I’ve designed a site that works in IE8 on Windows 7, but not in IE8 on Windows XP - why would this be?

I’m tempted to just let it go, and to heck with the people using IE8, but since this is for work, I’m trying to include as many users/browsers as possible - but I don’t begin to know how to make the site work in IE8 on XP…

Any thoughts?
