I’m planning to build a template, but I couldn’t figure out what to build. So, I decided to scrape all templates from the marketplace and analyze the data.
Here’s my analysis: What Webflow template should you build?

hi @_ondrej
First off, great effort on compiling these data – really well done! I just have a quick question though: do your reports include trends over time? Some of the templates might be a bit older, and that could skew the results. It would be really helpful to see trends from, say, the last 1-2 years to get a clearer picture of what’s currently in demand and what people are building.
Another suggestion would be to include the number of downloads. That could provide a better sense of a template’s popularity, as just looking at the number of templates or word searches might not give the full story.
I also noticed you mentioned that these templates cater to different niches like Blogs, SaaS, E-commerce, etc., which is great! But one of the most important factors to keep in mind when deciding what to build is the user experience.
Who is using the template? What are they looking for? How can you improve their experience?
Most Webflow users have little to no knowledge of HTML, CSS, or how the internet works under the hood. These are the users Webflow is targeting. It’s important to remember that Webflow is primarily UI-focused, and users are looking for ready-to-use templates – something they can plug in their CMS data with minimal changes. This is why blog templates are so popular on the Webflow marketplace.
For those who know how to code, they’re less likely to buy a Webflow template since they’ll often build their own, if they even use Webflow at all.
In the end, I’d recommend focusing on templates that require nothing more than CMS data inputs. That’s what most users are looking for.
Wishing you the best of luck on your journey – you’re off to a great start!

Hey Stan! thanks for the feedback!
This is my first report, so there are no trends right now. But I’m planning to release these regularly (maybe once every 3 months) and I’ll be capturing trends for sure. This will allow me analyze which tags are growing the fastest.
In terms of downloads, I don’t really have a way to source this data, as it’s not publically available. But I’m all ears, if you have any ideas :) It would be cool to see this.
A dakujem, aj tebe pekny den :)
