How to create email link?

Hi,

I would like to convert a piece of text into an e-mail link. I tried doing this by enabling the link element and typing in my email adress into the email field, but the only thing that happens when I then click the link is that a new, empty tab named ‘Untitled’ opens up. How do I make it work?

In the ‘Link Settings’ select ‘Email’. Clicking the link will open the users default email program (Outlook, Mail, etc.).

Is there a way to also customize the email body? Looking for javascript solutions but a bit confused on how I can implement this into my current webflow page.

The mailto: protocol does support an &body= param which you would create and append with JS, however;

  • It’s plain-text only, so not much formatting.
  • The total length of the mailto: link is limited so you run the risk of truncated content
  • Mail readers that are invoked have their own variations on how they’ll handle mailto: links and body params.
