Google Meta Data

Hello - I’m wondering if someone could explain why the title is coming up as “Headshot of Katharine” and “Groups” showing as GrouPS despite none of this info being part of the meta data? Everything shows up nicer on Bing, wondering if there’s a place to fix this or where I may need to update data.

Have you already submitted your sitemap to Google?

Generally Google takes time to adjust to site tags and meta descriptions. The best thing for you to do now in order to update these ASAP:

  • Get a Google Search Console account
  • Submit your sitemap (it’ll be something like https://www.yourwebsite.com/**sitemap.xml**)
  • Google will take some time to verify your sitemap and have all your pages indexed. Once they’re indexed, they should be displaying the correct information. If not, they will alert you on which pages are facing issues on indexing.

I’m not too sure what happened in your case, but perhaps you published these on the main site, then Google indexed your pages automatically. Then you changed the SEO settings.

In any case, Google Search Console is the best place to sort these things out. Best of luck!

Google will create whatever it thinks is most fitting, based on your content. Currently your homepage has a title of “Home”, and it didn’t like that- so it chose something different.

Your site links are also selected by Google and it sees your actual HTML names, not your CSS-uppercased names;
