Gallery Layout Thumbnails opening new tab when clicked on

I placed the prebuild gallery layout on a page. At some point, I noticed a behavior when in preview mode. When I click on one of the images to expand it, it does open up the slideshow view, but it also opens up a link in a new tab. I don’t know when this started.
